Anna Nellie Gilbert

Ms. Anna S. Gilbert, of Augusta, died on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Trinity Hospital. She was 92 years old. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta.The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 825 Greene Street, Augusta.Pastor David Hunter will officiate.The committal service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Ms. Gilbert is survived by her son, James Lanis Gilbert of Augusta; five grandchildren, Barry, Denise, Natalie, Kristen, and Kevin; several great grandchildren; her sister, Mary Ann Cowden; and her daughter in law, Bonnie T. Gilbert.She was preceded in death by her parents, John Joseph and Nellie Anna Lapavuska Sheck; herson, Russell F. Gilbert, and her grandson, R.J. Ms. Gilbert was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.Prior to her retirement, she was a librarian with the VA Hospital.The family suggests that memorials be made to the Lutheran Church of The Resurrection,825 Greene Street, Augusta 30901. The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, Georgia, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
