Ann M. Whitener Cobb, 87, of Augusta went into the arms of the Lord on March 1, 2018 at her residence. Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens with Chaplain Ellis Moore of Regency Hospice officiating. Born in Cleveland, Georgia to Jessie and Thomas Whitener, she spent most of her life in the Augusta area working as a nurse. Ann leaves behind many loving and supporting friends at Peabody Apartments. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her son, Terry Mays; brothers, Charlie and John Whitener; and sister, Lucille Leiguds. Survivors include her sons, Ted (Karen) Mays of North Carolina and Tim (Linda) Mays of Georgia; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Willard of Mississippi, Jean Lanear of South Carolina, Geraldine Fail of Georgia; brother, Tommy (Betty) Whitener of Georgia; sister in laws, Christy Whitener and June Whitener both of Georgia. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 3, 2018 form 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at The Poteet Funeral Home.
