Mrs. Allene S. Coash of Augusta passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Friday, December 18, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.She was 83 years old. The family will receive friends today, Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 2:00 until 4:00 pm at The Poteet Funeral Home, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta. The graveside service will be conducted on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the family plot at Hillcrest Memorial Park.Friends and family will assemble at the gravesite on Monday.Past Masters of Fleming Masonic Lodge No. 718 will serve as pallbearers.Rev. Jimmy Sanders will officiate at the services. Mrs. Coash is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert E. Coash; her daughters, Sandra Coshatt and her husband Billy of Bloomingdale, Georgia, Jeanie Rogers and her husband Patrick of Augusta, and Janice Whitaker and her husband Larry of Augusta; her grandchildren, Robert Coshatt and Kevin Cruise; her great-grandchildren, Amber Coshatt, Ashley Coshatt, and Josh Rogers.She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Claudia Samples; her sisters, Christine McNerney and Athene Wilcox. Mrs. Coash was a member of Crestview Baptist Church.She was born in Johnson County on September 22, 1926.She was raised in Johnson and Emanuel Counties before coming to Augusta in the late 1940’s.She married Mr. Coash on December 2, 1949.She was retired from Dymo Products.Mrs. Coash was a lifetime member of Woodmen of the World.She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
