Alice Burrell James has joined her family and loved ones in the company of our Lord on Sunday January 5, 2025, from her home in Evans, Georgia. Alice was born in Macon, Georgia to Martin Omar and Jennie Tallman Burrell. She spent her childhood years in Bibb County and Sandy Springs, Georgia and then in Madison County, Alabama on the outskirts of Huntsville. She graduated from SR Butler High School in Huntsville, Alabama and shortly thereafter moved with her parents to Towns County, Georgia. Alice graduated from Young Harris College (a two-year school at the time). She then moved to Athens Georgia to complete her Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy from the University of Georgia. Upon graduation she moved to Augusta, Georgia where she took an Activity Therapist position with Gracewood State Hospital ; now East Central Regional Hospital where she worked her entire career. Alice is survived by her children Micah James (Erica), Rebba Cooper (Jason), Kimberly Casper (Patrick) and Kristy Williams (William) and seven grandchildren, Jack, Cole, Corey, Kylie, Hunter, Trever, Sienna. She is also survived by two brothers, Alvin of Atlanta and Eric (her twin) from Hiawassee, GA. Alice was an active and supporting member of the communities in which participated. She was a life-long follower of the Episcopal faith and for approximately 40 years was a member of the Church of Atonement on Tobacco Road in Hephzibah. While at Atonement, she has served for years as the music director and in multiple other leadership roles including the Food Panty. In her capacity as a volunteer to the larger Episcopalian community, Alice was active in the Order of Daughters of the King, a musician in the Cursillo community, Kairos women's prison ministry and the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) where she served as state treasurer.The burial service will be held 11 AM on Friday, January 17, in the Church of the Atonement at 2616 Tobacco Road, Hephzibah, GA 30815. The service will be followed by a Celebration of Life and reception in the Fellowship Hall of St Alban's Episcopal Church at 3321 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, GA 30906.
