Alfred A. Wells Jr.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Alfred A. Wells, Jr. on September 29, 2024. Alfred was a proud alumnus of Lucy C Laney High School, Class of 1967. He was a vital part of the 1966 State Championship football team, a memory he cherished throughout his life. Alfred was well known as a fitness enthusiast and earned the nickname "The Running Man in Boots", reflecting his dedication to staying active and inspiring those around him. He also loved to dance, but most of all he genuinely enjoyed life. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Alfred A. Wells, Sr. and Mrs. Constance J. Wells. He is survived by his daughter Alex M. Wells; sisters Sylvia D. Wells and Carolyn Wells Johnson; godsister Claudia Maryland; wife/caregiver Ola H. Wells; niece Alexia Johnson; great nephews Jayden and Julius Carter; grandson Frank Thompson, and a host of beloved relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
