Alexander "Alex" William Hazuda, Iii

Alexander “Alex” William Hazuda, III (formerly Jason Andrew Edmonds), 50, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. He is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Mary Helen and Alexander W. Hazuda, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 14 years Michelle Coleman Hazuda, daughter Annaleigh Witt and sons Carter and William Hazuda all of Evans, GA, parents Thad Robert and Jan Edmonds of Dunlap, IL, mother-in-law Yvonne Coleman of Evans, GA, brother Thad Raymond Edmonds (Patricia) of Hanna City, IL, and many adoring aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Alex, whose name until age 18 was Jason Andrew Edmonds, was born in Peoria, Illinois on April 1, 1971. He moved to the Augusta area with his mother when he was 15 years old. He graduated from Evans High School in 1989 where he was a member of the Evans Knights football team. Immediately after graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy Seabees where he served honorably for the next 8 years. He attended the University of South Carolina with the help of the GI Bill where he majored in Civil Engineering. After college, he began traveling the United States doing iron work at various factory shut downs. In 1994, at the age of 23, Alex started his own business building and maintaining billboard signs which he continued for the rest of his life. He met the love of his life, Michelle, on July 17, 2006 througheHarmony.com. On November 17, 2006, he proposed to Michelle by way of a billboard, and they were married on March 17, 2007. Alex and Michelle shared a love for each other that was beyond compare. Alex adored his children and wanted nothing but the best for them. He and his family are members of ChristWay Christian Church where Alex served as a Deacon and Youth Volunteer. Alex was also a long standing member of the Gideons International where he served as Vice President of the Augusta South Camp. Alex was a Godly man who tried to bring the Gospel of Jesus to everyone he met. He was well respected and admired by those who knew him. He was selfless, considerate, thoughtful, and encouraging, always putting others’ needs above his own. Alex was often described as a gentle giant who always had a smile on his face and a kind word to share. Needless to say, Alex was loved by many and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends on Saturday afternoon, January 15 from 2 until 4 o’clock at ChristWay Christian Church. A memorial service will be immediately following the visitation at 4 o’clock.
